Featuring book and verse by Jeannine Dominy, lyrics by Amanda McBroom, and music by Michele Brourman, the show tells the tumultuous tale of Veronica Franco, a celebrated courtesan/poet of 16th-century Venice.
The musical stars Jenny Powers as Veronica Franco, with John Antony as Pietro, Megan McGinnis as Beatric, Laila Robins as Paola, Michael Rupert as Domenico, Bryce Ryness as Maffio, James Snyder as Marco, and Morgan Weed as Giulia.
The cast also includes Michael Baker as Bishop Della Torre, Joe Mandragona as Tintoretto, Nigel Columbus as Ramberti, Marcus Choi as Tron, Matthew Tyler as Grand Inquisitor, Irasole Cardona as Courtesan/Wife, Melissa Harding as Courtesan/Wife, Jessica Lee Keller as Courtesan/Wife/Dance Captain, Katherine Malak as Courtesan/Wife, Angela Wildflower Polk as Courtesan/Wife, Angel Reda as Courtesan/Wife, and Jessica Vosk as Courtesan/Wife.
The work is adapted from the New Regency screenplay The Honest Courtesan written by Dominy, released as the film Dangerous Beauty and inspired by the scholarly book The Honest Courtesan by USC Professor Margaret Rosenthal.
