Actor Simon Ward has Died

British stage and screen star Simon Ward has died at the age of 70 following a long illness.

Ward’s theatrical credits include productions of Joe Orton’s Loot, Terence Rattigan’s Ross, Simon Gray’s Cell Mates, Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband, and Alan Bennett’s The Madness of George III.

He appeared on screen as Sir Monty in the BBC series Judge John Deed and as Bishop Gardiner in The Tudors. Ward’s films include The Three Musketeers and Supergirl.

Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and a founding member of the National Youth Theatre, Ward is survived by his wife Alexandra and his daughters Sophie, Claudia, and Kitty.
