Vocalist and pianist Michael Feinstein will become the artistic director of the Center for the Performing Arts Center in Carmel, Indiana, as well as perform at the opening of its concert hall, The Palladium, alongside Chris Botti and the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, on January 29. Gordon Hunt will direct the concert.

The Center will also house a 200-seat studio theater (opening in March 2011) and The Tarkington, a 500-seat proscenium theater (opening in August 2011). Perfornance schedules for the Center will be announced shortly.

In addition to serving as the Center’s leader, Feinstein will move headquarters for the Foundation for the Education and Preservation of The Great American Songbook to Carmel, and the facility will serve as exhibit, office and facility space for the collection, curating, conservation, study, and exhibition of the Feinstein Collection and materials related to the Great American Songbook. Collection materials will be available to scholars, and on a more limited basis to students and the general public.
