Capital Fringe Festival to Feature Works by Lee Blessing, Christopher Durang, Bert V. Royal, and More

The 5th annual Capital Fringe Festival will run at various locations throughout Washington, DC, July 8-25.

Among the productions that will be seen at this year’s event are revivals of contemporary plays like Christopher Durang’s Beyond Therapy, Lee Blessing’s A Walk in the Woods and Bert V. Royal’s Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. The Festival will also see classics, including from W.S. Gilbert: Engaged and H.M.S. Pinafore, as well as productions of Macbeth, Medea, ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore, and a musical version of Lysistrata.

New work to be offered in the Festival includes Chlamydia dell’Arte: A Sex-Ed Burlesque, Evolutionism, or Dammit We Took a Shortcut!, The Imaginary Autopsee and Things I Wrote Before My First Kiss. Other new pieces, with pop culture leanings, include Carrie Potter and the New Moon Prom and When ET Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
