Two-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters received the Arlington, Virginia-based Signature Theatre's 2011 Stephen Sondheim Award, at a gala held at the Embassy of Italy on Monday, April 11.

The award was established in honor of America's most influential contemporary musical theater writer and composer, Stephen Sondheim, who was in attendance.

Eleasha Gamble, Rebecca Luker, and Euan Morton were among those who performed at the event, while attendees included Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer and Broadway veteran Florence Lacey.
