Works by John Logan, David Mamet, Regina Taylor, et al. Set for Goodman Theatre’s 2011-2012 Season

Goodman Theatre has announced five of the eight plays that will comprise the company’s 2011-2012 season.

The year will begin with the John Logan’s Tony Award-winning play Red. Robert Falls will direct this two-character biodrama that focuses on the painter Mark Rothko. Also on the theater’s schedule is David Mamet’s Race, to be directed by Chuck Smith.

In addition, the Goodman’s season will include a production of Camino Real Tennessee Williams’ surreal look at an expatriate drifter wandering through an unnamed Latin American country, to be directed by Calixto Bieito,; a new production of Regina Taylor’s Crowns, a look at churchgoing ladies and the hats they wear to worship, and Danai Gurira’s The Convert.

Rounding out the theater’s season will be the company’s annual presentation of A Christmas Carol.
