Profiles Theatre Presents Midwest Premiere of Jerusalem

The Tony Award-nominated play starts its run tonight.

Jez Butterworth's epic, original comedy, Jerusalem, begins its run tonight at Profiles Theatre.
Jez Butterworth is the author of Jerusalem, which makes its Midwest premiere tonight at Profiles Theatre.

Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem begins performances at Profiles Theatre this evening.

The play follows Johnny "Rooster" Byron on the day of the local county fair on St. George’s Day. With the council officials looking to serve him an eviction notice, Byron’s son just wants his dad to take him to the fair, but a motley crew of locals want his access to his abundant supply of drugs and alcohol. Presenting a comic, contemporary vision of rural England, the play evokes nostalgia in the face of the erosion of country life as it critiques our modern antiseptic world.

Written by Jez Butterworth, the show is directed by Profiles Theatre artistic director Darrell W. Cox.

Performances will run through April 3.
