Toronto Jersey Boys to Close August 22

The Toronto production of Jersey Boys will play its final performance at the Toronto Centre for the Arts on August 22, the second anniversary of its official opening. The show will have played 830 performances.

The musical — written by Academy Award winner Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe — tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi, and includes dozens of their popular hits including “Walk Like a Man,” “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Oh What a Night,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.”

The company currently features Michael Lomenda (Massi), Jeff Madden (Valli), Daniel Robert Sullivan (DeVito) and Quinn VanAntwerp (Gaudio), along with Gabriel Antonacci, Matthew G. Brown, Matt Cassidy, Jade Elliott, Élodie Gillett, Steven M. Goldsmith, Bryan Hindle, Victoria Lamond, Aaron MacKenzie, Adrian Marchuk, W. Joseph Matheson, Timothy Sell, Alison Smyth, Grant Tilly, Cleopatra Williams and Shawn Wright.

The production is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff and has choreography by Sergio Trujillo. The Toronto production of Jersey Boys is the winner of two 2009 Dora Mavor Moore Awards; Outstanding Direction of a Musical for McAnuff and Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Musical for Madden, as well as the Audience Choice Award.
