(© Joseph Marzullo/WENN) | The Toronto production of Jersey Boys picked up two Dora Awards last night at a ceremony at Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre, hosted by CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi. The production won for director Des McAnuff and leading actor Jeff Madden, who plays Frankie Valli.
A total of 35 Dora Awards were given out in competitive categories. Other notable winners include The Buddies in Bad Times production of Waawaate Fobister's Agokwe, which took home six awards, including Outstanding Production of a Play and New Play; Jeremy Sams' production of The Sound of Music, which won three awards including Outstanding Production of a Musical; and the National Theatre of Scotland's Black Watch, which took the award for Outstanding Touring Production.
