Original American in Paris Film Star Leslie Caron Visits Broadway Company

Academy Award nominee Leslie Caron, who originated the role of Lise in the 1951 film An American in Paris, saw Christopher Wheeldon's Broadway musical version of the property on Tuesday, January 12. Following the show, leading players Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope (who currently takes on Caron's character) invited Caron onstage for an emotional curtain call.

Winner of four 2015 Tony Awards, An American in Paris is directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. Inspired by the Academy Award-winning film, the show features music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin and a book by Craig Lucas. The principal company also includes Max von Essen, Brandon Uranowitz, Jill Paice, and Veanne Cox. The production officially opened April 12 at the Palace Theatre.
