Michael Cerveris, Glenn Close, Tyne Daly, and other stars help Manhattan Theatre Club celebrate the opening of Translations, while Christine Baranski, Jesse L. Martin, et al. attend the company's Winter Benefit.

The Manhattan Theatre Club production of Brian Friel's 1980 play Translations bowed last night at the Biltmore Theatre to extremely positive reviews. Celebrating at the show's after party at the Hard Rock Cafe was the brilliant ensemble cast (l-r, top row): David Costabile, Geraldine Hughes, Dermot Crowley, Morgan Hallett, Chandler Williams, Niall Buggy, Susan Lynch, and (l-r, bottom row) Michael FitzGerald, Alan Cox, and Graeme Malcolm.











The production, which originated at Princeton's McCarter Theatre, is directed by Ireland's own Garry Hynes -- the first woman to ever win a Tony Award for Best Director, for her work on Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane.



















Not even a bitterly cold night could stop a slew of major stars from attending the opening. Here's the marvelous Glenn Close, who worked with Williams on the 2004 film Heights.



















Also braving the cold were former Tony nominee Amy Ryan and the always-in-demand Patricia Clarkson...

It was a busy week for the folks at MTC, who also held their annual Winter Benefit on Monday, January 22. Among that event's celebrity guests were Law & Order's Jesse L. Martin; former Wicked star Kate Reinders; and Tony winner Christine Baranski and director Christopher Ashley, who just recently worked together on MTC's hit comedy Regrets Only.
