Celina Carvajal, Gavin Creel, Lea DeLaria, et al. Set for A.R.T.’s Prometheus Bound Musical

Full casting has been announced for American Repertory Theater’s production of the new musical, Prometheus Bound, to run February 25 – April 2 at Oberon. Diane Paulus will direct the production.

With book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Serj Tankian, the show is based on Aeschylus’ tragedy. It illustrates one man’s struggle against the brute force of a ruthless dictator.

In addition to the previously reported Gavin Creel in the title role, the cast will feature Lea DeLaria as Force, Michael Cunio as Oceanos, Gabe Ebert as Hephaistos/Hermes, Uzo Aduba as Io, Celina Carvajal, Ashley Flanagan as Daughters of the Ocean, and Jo Lampert as Daughter of the Ocean and Violence.

The band will include Charlie Chronopolous on guitars and sitar; Tom Duprey on trumpet, clarinet, bass clarinet, flugerlhorn, violin and accordion; David Finch on violin, viper, and trombone; Jeff Muzerolle on drums, percussion, and synthesizer; and Rob Simring on bass guitars. The Band Leader is Vincent Padulla.

The production will feature scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Kevin Adams, sound design by Clive Goodwin, choreography by Stephen Petronio, vocal design by AnnMarie Milazzo, and music supervision by Debra Barsha and Lance Horne.
