Kabuki Theater Exhibit to Be Presented at Peabody Essex Museum

Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, will present Stage Idols, Japanese Kabuki Theater, an exhibition featuring a selection of woodblock prints from PEM’s collection, many on view for the first time. Curated by Midori Oka, it will run February 2, 2008-January 25, 2009.
In addition to a rotating selection of over 40 19th-century prints, the exhibit will feature rare kabuki-related objects such as costumes, photographs, and advertising signs.
