Dempsey & Rowe's Musical Comedy The Fix Joins Signature Theatre's 25th Season
The Virginia theater will close the celebration of its silver anniversary with a musical political send-up.
Signature Theatre of Arlington, Virginia, has announced that the final production of its 25th anniversary season will be The Fix, a musical comedy by writing team Ohioans John Dempsey (lyricist) and Dana P. Rowe (composer).
The Fix made its debut at the Donmar Warehouse in April 1997 under the direction of Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty). The musical follows an ambitious woman named Violet, whose husband, a popular presidential candidate, dies in his mistress' bed. She responds by throwing her layabout son, Cal, into the political mix, with a little help from her spin doctor brother-in-law, Grahame.
The show features a rock-laced score, written by the composing partners behind The Witches of Eastwick and Brother Russia. Eric Schaeffer will helm the production.
