The Scarlet Letter

The Rorschach Theatre presents The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, adapted by Phyllis Nagy. Hawthorne’s classic exploration of sin, society and the human condition gets a sexually charged and psychologically complex reworking in playwright Phyllis Nagy’s fresh and unexpected retelling of this classic novel. The story follows a young woman in Puritan Massachusetts who is sentenced to wear an embroidered letter “A” for her sin of adultery. Her husband secretly plans revenge on her lover as she desperately tries to keep secret his scandalous identity.
