The Imaginary Invalid is Moliere’s story of the hypochondriac Argan, who imagines he is sick when he is actually not and faithfully follows any instructions from his doctor. In fact, Argan wants his daughter Angelique to marry a doctor even though she is already in love with another man, Cleante. Meanwhile, Argan’s maid Toinette and his brother Berald attempt to cure Argan’s hypochondria by convincing him to play dead to reveal who is really loyal to Argan.
