Ford’s Theatre has signed actor Wendell Wright to star in the
Washington premiere of the one-man show, Looking over the President’s Shoulder, the story of the first African American chief
butler at the White House.
The play, written and directed by James Stills, is the story of Alonzo Fields, an African American who dreamed of becoming an opera star, but because of circumstances, took a job at the White House, where he remained twenty-one years. Fields’ story is told in a captivating evening of informative storytelling, musical interludes and exquisite impressions.
