New York City
Like any St. Patrick’s Day tradition worth its blarney, Black Rock Center for the Arts once again gathers the finest players of bodhráns, tin whistles
and fiddles along with the best purveyors of corned beef, cabbage and stout to whisk audiences away to the Emerald Isle for just one night. As observed by The Washington Post, IONA is “dedicated to preserving and reinterpreting traditional music of the Celts, [and its members] collectively serve as a stepping stone between the past and the present.”
Conceived in 1986, IONA has become the leading Celtic group in
the Mid-Atlantic region–seasoned performers who involve their audiences with the history and cultural backgrounds of the music, from teaching words to the songs (even those sung in a Celtic tongue) to leading simple Breton dances. IONA is Irish fun!
