About This Show

George Bartenieff (founder of Theater for the New City in New York) performs in I Will Bear Witness: A Diary of the Nazi Years, 1941-45 (Volume II), based on the diary kept by Victor Klemperer during the Holocaust. The play recalls how humiliations to “priveleged Jews” like Klemperer (whose wife was Aryan) grew increasingly severe with house searches, arbitrary arrests, and brutal beatings.

The play is produced in repertory with Volume I by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. For more information about Volume I (which runs April 10, 16, and 19), visit www.ushmm.org or call 202-488-0427.
