About This Show

I Want to Tell You is a musical play by Roy Barber and Leslie Jacobson. Commissioned by the Bridgebuilders Foundation in 2000, this play explores the causes of intolerance and homophobia among high school students, and promotes discussion on these issues following the performance. The cast is composed of high school students, college students, and professional actors. Members of SMYAL (Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League) and PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians And Gays) regularly join the audience, cast, and creators of the show in a post-show discussion. Based on interviews with high school students and teachers both straight and gay, the show makes a powerful plea to create safe schools for ALL our students.
