Mel and her husband Ted are trying to cope with the loss of their son. Wherever Ted goes he meets people other grieving people and whatever Mel touches falls apart. They continue to make their way through the world guided by their young daughter Lanie and host of bizarre characters, including the Tooth Fairy, G.I. Joe, and a transvestite airline stewardess. Funny, touching……a family brought together.
