About This Show

Written in a combination of blank and rhymed verse, Joanna Baillie’s Count Basil explores large emotions such as honor and duty, as it pits them against the power of passionate love. It also looks at the ways women can, and cannot exert power in a male dominated society. As the leading male character, Count Basil begins to fall in love with the young Victoria. The Countess Albini, her governess, argues that using seduction and sexual attraction as a power over men is not the ultimate solution. Leslie Jacobson directs.

There are no matinees during opening weekend.
