About this show

Imani Winds, the groundbreaking Grammy-nominated wind quintet, is an inventive combination of French horn, bassoon, clarinet, flute, and oboe. They team up with jazz vibraphonist/composer Stefon Harris to create a new concept of American chamber music, celebrating improvisation and blurring the line between classical and jazz. Mallets in the air, feet on and off the ground, Harris dances as he combines elements of post bop, hard bop, and progressive jazz into something new. This performance highlights the conceptual airways and organic rhythmic stability that occurs when woodwinds and vibraphones interact. Presented in association with the Office of the Associate Provost for Multicultural Affairs through the UVM President's Initiative for Diversity
