Urinetown, The Musical

The first Houston production of Urinetown, The Musical, with music and lyrics by Mark Hollman and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis, opens at Main Street’s Chelsea Market location. This irreverent satire is set in a drought-stricken future in which all water use is controlled by powerful interests and, consequently, one must “pay to pee”. A hero arises to rally the miserable, downtrodden citizenry to revolt against the greed and corruption that control the city’s toilets — and he just happens to find love along the way!

Hailed as one of the most original musicals to hit the scene in decades, Urinetown leaves nothing untouched, making fun of everything from Hamlet’s ghost to West Side Story.
