About the Show
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a sweeping musical from Disney composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel. Set in fifteenth-century Paris, the story follows Quasimodo, the isolated bell-ringer of Notre Dame, as he longs to experience life beyond the cathedral walls. After meeting the kind and courageous Esmeralda, Quasimodo is drawn into a struggle against the cruel archdeacon Frollo, whose obsession sparks danger for the Romani people and all of Paris. Featuring the film’s Academy Award-nominated score alongside new songs, this powerful tale explores love, acceptance, redemption, and hope. This production also features a full 21-piece live orchestra performing an expanded orchestration of Menken’s celebrated score, marking its first U.S. performance.
