About This Show

King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable storm the stage in Camelot at Plano Repertory Theatre, Lerner and Loewe’s mythical classic. directed by Joel Ferrell.

Magic won his kingdom. Love lost it. The musical tells of King Arthur meeting his beloved Guenevere and creating a noble, perfect kingdom, defended by a righteous band of warriors: The Knights of the Round Table. And so the scene is set for wizardry, deception, love, and valor.

Hearing Arthur’s call for worthy knights, the idealistic Lancelot travels from France to join the royal guard. His overzealous quest for perfection alienates him from the rest of the Camelot court, even though Arthur immediately befriends him. Guenevere convinces several of the strongest knights to challenge Lancelot to a joust, hoping to be rid of him. Lancelot defeats them all, striking one with such force that he inadvertently kills him. Distraught, Lancelot prays over him, and, to the astonishment of all, the knight comes back to life. Looking up, Lancelot sees Guenevere, and, overwhelmed with emotion, the two fall deeply in love.

Lerner and Loewe’s celebrated re-telling of the Arthurian legend boasts a glistening score including “If Ever I Should Leave You”, “What Do Simple Folks Do?”, “I Loved You Once in Silence” and the title song “Camelot”.
