Three Sarasota Premieres - Christopher Wheeldon's The American, Will Tuckett's Spielende Kinder and TwylaTharp's The Upper Room. Sarasota Ballet presents a rare opportunity for audiences to enjoy three of the greatest contemporary ballet choreographers of our time. The American, set to the music of Antonin Dvorak composed during his American sojourn, is one of the early works that established Christopher Wheeldon as one of the most sought after choreographers today. Will Tuckett, a highly inventive and multi-talented choreographer with The Royal Ballet, will work with the company to present his Spielende Kinder set to the rhythmically energetic music of Carl Orff. In the Upper Room, set to the hypnotic music of Phillip Glass by the great American choreographer Twyla Tharp blends a diversity of styles with satisfying unity.
