Farther Out & Surge

On the Boards brings a double bill of dance to the 2007 Northwest Artist Series. Created by Vancouver-based performer and choreographer Crystal Pite, Farther Out uses both the philosophical poetics and high camp of science fiction in a dance duet with dancer Cori Caulfield to portray one of the great battles of a writer’s work: to edit and destroy. Surge is Day Helesic’s first full length choreography for her company, MovEnt. Inspired by power, both industrial and human, Surge is a dance of struggles viewed from every angle, set in a raw, industrial setting and performed by three dancers.
