About This Show

“Black Stax is a cornerstone of the Northwest community. Working with community and cultural organizations focused on youth, Black Stax showcases social justice through art. ”

Black Stax was formed in 2009 with a mission to honor the legacy of Black Arts & Culture by ‘stacking’ all forms of Black music & art. A performance group with two celebrated veteran artists at its core, Black Stax blends the forces of cultural expression with community building and activism, a commitment which recently earned them a Community 4Culture grant to advance their work. MC, Jace ECAj and vocalist/actress Felicia Loud each bring over 25 Years of professional history in the field of arts performance and community work.

Felicia Loud has worked extensively in Theater. Her work includes, ‘Pullman Porter Blues’ at Seattle Repertory Theater, ‘Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill’ at Strawberry Theater and ArtsWest and ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings’ at Theater Off Jackson to name a few. She also has worked as a youth director for students, ages 6-12 years old at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center.

A collaboration that works, Black Stax successfully blends musical genres and attracts a varied and supportive following.

The group, Black Stax, has released several projects with wonderful local, national and global response. Their first album “Talking Buildings” (2010) and video for single “I Love My Life,” played in Foot Locker and Foot Action stores nationwide, followed by “Spell on You” which reached the video charts in Nigeria. In 2013, the group released ‘LIVE at the Triple Door’ album in collaboration with TAF Academy and the celebration of S.T.E.M. They began their “ILL-US-TRAIT” series in 2017, with singles “Unexpected Shots” and “Vintage” receiving college radio play across the country.

THE SHOW

Besides their unparalleled sound, what sets Black Stax apart is their ability to put on a memorable live show. Individually they are seasoned performers and collectively they are masters of setting a vibe and drawing in an audience. Black Stax adds to their live performance and sound by adding other elements of music.
