W. Allen Taylor’s Walkin’ Talkin’ Bill Hawkins…In Search of My Father recalls Taylor’s adventurous search for his absent father, Bill Hawkins, the first black disc jockey in Cleveland, Ohio. With musical interludes celebrating the cultural legacy of black radio, this one-man show follows a bittersweet journey of self-discovery and destiny as Taylor performs a range of richly defined characters. Previously performed as “a work in progress,” Taylor’s intimate show has been critically acclaimed and declared a “triumph” and “masterpiece.” Gloria Weinstock directs.
