The Butter and Egg Man

George S. Kaufman’s classic comedy The Butter and Egg Man, the only play he wrote without a collaborator, is set in motion when a pair of unscrupulous Broadway producers coax a naïve young man into investing in a surefire hit production, or so they say. The backstage hijinks continue as the show premieres in Syracuse before moving to New York, picking up steam and a host of colorful characters along the way. Can the plucky young “butter and egg man” beat the sharks of the Great White Way at their own game?
