About This Show

Singing, rhyming and making it up!

Improv Slam is an improvisational singing contest; hence the name, Improv Slam Singing Contest. 8 to 12 contestants get on stage and make up songs based on suggestions they get from the audience. Three judges evaluate their performances based on the comedy, improvisation and musicality of their inventions. Contestants sing solo as well as in groups as they duke it out for the show’s $50 cash prize, and qualify to compete for the $2,000 Grand Prize.

You never know what will pop up at the Improv Slam. A ballad to Mr. T; an R&B ensemble-piece about building the pyramids in Egypt; or a German Lieder about famous “German leader,” David Hasselhoff. You never know what cockamamy invention these extremely talented and courageous artists will come up with.

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and most importantly, you’ll be amazed that mere mortals can pull off what you will have witnessed right in front of your eyes. Order tickets now for the next Improv Slam Singing Contest.

Space in the contest is limited; contestants please email dana@sfimprov.com to reserve a spot in the show.
