About This Show

A new musical headed to Broadway starts its journey on ATC’s stages this winter. Created by some of Broadway and Hollywood’s most acclaimed talents and based on the Oscar-winning 1985 film, Mask is the true story of fifteen-year-old Rocky Dennis, whose unusual face gives the appearance of a mask. His tough-talking biker mother, Rusty, gives him the strength to face the world, but, ultimately, he is called upon to save her.

This emotional and uplifting musical presents a unique look into a world where the most unlikely people can be heroes. Music and lyrics are by Academy Award nominees and multi-Grammy Award winners Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil who created dozens of hit songs such as “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling,” “Here You Come Again,” “On Broadway,” and “Somewhere Out There.” The book is authored by Academy Award nominee, Anna Hamilton Phelan, screenwriter of the original film which won a Writer’s Guild of America Best Screenplay award. Richard Maltby, Jr. directs.
