The Last Days of Judas Iscariot

About the Show

Setting: 2005, a courtroom in Purgatory Action: Trial in progress Defendant: Judas Iscariot Witnesses: Satan, Sigmund Freud, Mother Teresa and assorted other saints and biblical figures Thus, we have The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, a hilarious, irreverent and thought-provoking play by Stephen Adly Guirgis being presented by The Stagecrafters. First staged off Broadway at the Public Theater in March 2005 directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman, the show is an imagined court hearing in which the ultimate fate of Judas will be determined. A large cast of zany characters present evidence in a series of riotous monologs throughout the play. “Stephen Adly Guirgis has written a real jaw-dropper…raw language and flamboyantly street-savvy characters…his imagination is dazzling and his command of language is downright thrilling.” -- Variety
