An Artist’s Workshop is inspired by the story of Friedl Dicker-Brandeis, an Austrian Jewish artist, educator and designer. Dicker-Brandeis, while held in the labor concentration camp of Terezin, secretly taught the children there to paint and draw. This show depicts the contemporary story of Fran, an African-American woman artist struggling to create under her own set of difficult circumstances. Utilizing twelve actors, the work combines text and movement to reveal the impact Friedl Dicker-Brandeis had on the world both during her lifetime and today.
