New York City
Set in the 1930’s, Annie is based on Harold Gray’s comic strip “Little Orphan Annie,” in an era when Americans, many living in Hoovervilles (communities formed by the homeless, under bridges and other desolate areas), had little hope of prosperity. Many children found themselves parentless and in urban orphanages. A particular orphan named Annie refuses to give up on life and dreams of maybe one day having a family to count on rather than the avaricious Miss Hannigan, who deprived the orphans of any luxury to suit her own needs.
On Father’s Day, June 20, dinner will be served at 1:00pm and there will be a 3:00pm curtain. There will be no show on Sunday, July 4th.
