The Actors Collective – Acting – David Schulz & Al Valletta
This beginner / intermediate-level acting class is designed for students who have no or some prior training or performance experience and are ready to deepen their craft. The Actors Collective provides a supportive, ensemble-based environment where actors build confidence, strengthen technique, and expand their range through guided exploration and practice.
Class Focus
Scene Work: Developing truthful, playable performances using contemporary and classical material
Character Development: Building believable characters through objectives, obstacles, and relationships
Script & Text Analysis: Understanding story, stakes, and subtext to make strong, informed acting choices
Audition Skills: Cold reads, monologues, and practical audition techniques
Improvisation: Exercises to enhance listening, spontaneity, and connection
Ensemble Work: Collaboration, feedback, and creative risk-taking in a supportive group setting
Who This Class Is For
This class is ideal for actors who have limited experience, are first or second time participants in the Star Theatre Actors Collective, and want to explore the craft of acting. Students should be comfortable working in front of others and eager to challenge themselves while continuing to develop foundational skills.
