The Spitfire Grill

Since it opened Off-Broadway in 2001 at Playwrights Horizons, The Spitfire Grill has become one of the most often-produced new American musicals. Based on the award-winning film by Lee David Zlotoff, the musical depicts the journey of Percy, a young woman just released from prison who decides to start her life anew in a rural Wisconsin town-Gilead. She is taken in by Hannah, to help our at her place, the Spitfire Grill. Percy brings change to the small town, stirring resentment and fear in some, and growth in others. The folk and bluegrass tinged score is unlike that for any other musical
