About This Show

The romantic comedy-drama Maytag Virgin was written by emerging female playwright, Audrey Cefaly. The story is set in a current day rural southern town and follows midlife schoolteachers, Lizzy Nash and her new neighbor, Jack Key over the course of a year. They are two wounded souls, each widowed and trying to get their lives back together. As fate would have it, in addition to being neighbors both happen to work at the same high school; but their obvious and abundant differences contradict any hope they might possibly be a good match for each other. Harbored secrets, and the secrets hidden in Jack's house present seemingly insurmountable obstacles that they both must overcome. Exposed are ideas of apathy and self-enlightenment, and the bridge between the two. If you know the films When Harry Met Sally or Our Souls at Night and liked them… you’ll love Maytag Virgin.

[PG-13]: Subject matter more appropriate for adult audiences.
“A heart warmer of a play… Cefaly writes with sympathy and a finely-sharpened wit.” – Broadway World
“Cefaly makes her characters rich and mixed-up enough for us to build some real affection for them… It's sweet stuff.” – The Washington Post
