Latin-Grammy nominated Fado singer Mariza has a world-wide fan base that spans many age ranges and walks of life. A Fado singer at heart, Mariza experiments with new ways of singing this traditional Portuguese song. Mariza’s interpretations of Fado standards brought her great international recognition, and in March 2003, she was the recipient of BBC Radio 3’s award for "Best European Artist in World Music." She performed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens where she sang "A Thousand Years," with Sting.
