About the Show

Celebrate the season of Passover and the rebirth of spring with ancient music of the Middle East made new by a groove-based band that calls itself Mandolin Caravan, singing songs from their hit album entitled Desert Soul. Mandolin Caravan, led by local musician Matt Turk, puts a modern spin on ancient Jewish classics.

Mandolin Caravan was formed through a partnership between Matt Turk and Kevin Hupp, with the goal of keeping ancient Hebrew music alive. Together they formed a high-energy quartet made up of Turk (vocals and mandolin), Kevin Hupp (drums and production), Kevin Jenkins (bass) and C. P. Roth (keyboard). The group has a unique talent for educating an audience while entertaining it as well. Mandolin Caravan’s first album, Desert Soul, was released in 2003.
