About This Show

Fleetwood Stage offers its fifth annual free workshop series of new plays in development and a fresh look at a provocative classic during three weekends in January. Developing original work and examining unconventional texts enables a company to nurture its affiliated artists with a drive to express themselves. Platform Series is a resource and seed-bed for creative growth. These staged readings exhibit the nuts and bolts of theatre – the actor and the word, without the dress-up of sets, costumes and lights.

January 9-10-11, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 1pm
WAITING FOR GODOT by Samuel Beckett
A fresh look at one of the seminal plays of the 20th century. No matter where the road may lead – or strand – us, we can always go on with a friend by our side.

January 17 -18, Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 1pm
SLAIN IN THE SPIRIT by Lisa Milinazzo
Inspired by the life of Andrea Yates, the Texas woman who drowned her five children; an original work stylistically exploring the theft of a woman’s spirit by fundamentalism and small-mindedness.

January 24 -25, Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 1pm
A BROOKLYN TALE by Joan Sorkin
Returning home from Vietnam, the prodigal son finds his mother sitting shiva for his father, and his father¹s brother/partner now sharing her bed – something¹s rotten in the borough of Brooklyn, in this original work.
