New York City
No musical presents the age-old tale of Boy-Meets-Girl and the batty
complications that ensue better than Anything Goes. It is widely regarded as one of the very best by Cole Porter and comes straight from the 1930’s, the golden age of the American musical comedy. The score includes the favorites “It’s De-Lovely,” “I Get A Kick Out Of You,” “All Through The Night,” “Anything Goes,” “You’re The Top,” and “Under My Skin.”
The beautiful American heiress Hope Harcourt, her mother, and her English
fiancé Sir Evelyn Oakleigh are crossing the Atlantic on a luxury liner.
Stowed away is a hopeful young admirer, Billy Crocker. Their cruise is kept
in a state of comic upheaval, thanks to schemes of misdirection and mistaken identity by fellow passengers Moonface Mooney (Public Enemy Number 13) and an ex-evangelist turned night club singer, Reno Sweeney. In classic 30’s Broadway-musical style, however, all the confusion is averted and all the romances are sorted out by the end of the trip aboard this ship where “anything goes” . This is a show with enough laughter to keep the youngest theatergoer happy and music and dance numbers that will bring you out of your seat.
