Wit, by Margaret Edson, is a heartbreakingly funny play about a distinguished English Literature professor diagnosed with ovarian cancer who learns that intellectual brilliance is not as important as simple human kindness. Wit won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1999; that same year, Kathleen Chalfant won the Drama Desk, Obie and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Dr. Vivian Bearing.
