Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater announces a strictly limited run of its newest Latinx musical production, TORCHED! A People Ignited on December 2-19, 2021. TORCHED! speaks to the now legendary era of the Bronx Fires of the 1970s, lifting stories of survival to lay bare the infamies of the arson-for-profit business. Alternating from past to present and pulsing to salsa and hip hop sounds, the show is part investigative theater and part poetic fiction—delivered by Pregones/PRTT’s Latinx ensemble cast of ten actors/musicians under the direction of award-winning artists Rosalba Rolón and Desmar Guevara. Performances are at Pregones Theater in the Bronx (575 Walton Avenue near 149th Street & Grand Concourse) on Thursdays-Saturdays 8 pm and Sundays 3 pm. Tickets start at $25, seating capacity is limited, and proof of vaccination will be required.
