Performance Space 122 presents a workshop of The Ugly American, a new monologue of heartbreak and the stage. Writer/performer Mike Daisy looks back on his experiences ten years ago studying theater with the likes of Gielgud and Olivier in London. In The Ugly American, Daisy looks back on the highbrow and the lowbrow, from serving tea to Tom Stoppard to driving drunk with his girlfriend’s pimp, weaving together the lessons of artifice, class, gender, and power that both worlds so violently taught him.
