The Algonquin Hotel’s famous Oak Room presents The Second International Festival of Cabaret, featuring Michel Hermon and Natalie Gamsu. French baritone Hermon presents his new Dietrich show, Awake in a Dream, featuring landmark Dietrich songs from her careers on stage on screen. Avra Petrides directs, with musical direction from Neal Kirkwood.
2000 MAC Award winner for Best Female Vocalist, South African Natalie Gamsu mines numerous cultures to create an evening dedicated to the poetry of solitude and independence. Stranger is written by Gary Carter with musical direction by Ross Patterson.
Both artists are featured on the opening and closing nights, then alternate on Sunday and Monday nights. There is a $15 minimum for each performance.
