NEA Jazz Master Ron Carter is one of the most revered figures in jazz. His staggering musical resume includes work with Miles Davis’ Second Great Quintet in the mid-60s alongside Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Tony Williams – a cornerstone of modern jazz, captured in albums including Sorcerer, Nefertiti, Filles de Kilimanjaro, and more. Add collaborations with Quincy Jones, Gil Evans, Cannonball Adderly, Antonio Carlos Jobim, McCoy Tyner, and a multitude of others, and the more than 2,500 sessions that have made him the most recorded bassist in history, and Carter’s imprint and influence can’t be overstated.
