About This Show

After ministering to suffering souls in Edingburgh, Burning Man and Berlin, Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping will conclude their SHADOW OF THE SHOPTURE world tour at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. The tour comes after Reverend Billy’s arrest for preaching the First Amendment in Union Square (in which the NYPD’s legal complaint is that they are the Reverend’s abused lovers…) Upcoming — the November release of the Church
documentary, WHAT WOULD JESUS BUY?, produced by Morgan Spurlock (SUPERSIZE ME, 30 DAYS).

When transnational corporations and their government partners rapture our personal stories and public space into the air –leaving behind only products on the shelf– then we are living in the SHOPTURE, children! Through performance and direct action the Church of Stop Shopping works with communities around the world to PUSH BACK the Devil’s Monoculture, the big boxes and chains, the brain-freezing ad-bath… And PUSH FOR our First Amendment rights of free speech, press and assembly.
