Reflecting on Marlene

About the Show

In her new cabaret act, Reflecting on Marlene, Elizabeth Hodes follows the life of Marlene Dietrich. She traces the star’s career from being an 18-year old at a strict girls school, who kicked up her heels in Berlin chorus lines, until discovered by the film director Josef von Sternberg, who cast her as “Die Blau Angel,” and made her an international star who defines the ultimate femme fatale. Songs include “Black Market,” “Illusions,” and “Ruins of Berlin.” As a special treat, Hodes sings Dietrich’s Hebrew rendition of “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?”
